Agenda Item Summary: The attached power point provides an overview of the major programs and projects essential to continuity as we progress toward the new academic year. It reflects major departmental initiatives and processes that will ensure that the outcomes in the ACPS Strategic Plan 2020 continue to be addressed and achieved. While not an exhaustive list, this presentation articulates what each department leader considers to be key focus areas associated with his or her program area. This power point summarizes programs and initiatives from the following departments: (1) Accountability, (2) Communications, (3) Curriculum and Instruction, (4) Elementary and Secondary Instruction, (5) Human Resources, (6) Operations, (7) School, Business, and Community Partnerships, (8) Student Services, and (9) Technology.
Background: The summer months represent an important time for planning, program development, and professional learning. Department leaders have identified initiatives and processes to undertake during this period in preparation for the start of the academic year, 2017-18. While the majority of these projects will be completed by the end of the summer, some of our priorities will continue into the school year.
Recommendation: The Superintendent recommends that the School Board review the identified initiatives and continue to support these critical priorities.
